If your ever in Tokyo, Japan you will not be shorted a supply of sushi and sushi bars! They are on every corner of the city. If you want to have a real Japanese experience, you must visit an Izakaya. Find one that is not touristy and that has many locals. An Izakaya is a Japanese tavern that includes small plates, small menus, and drinks. You can find these small places hidden in the back alley streets of Tokyo. If you want to take a healthier route that includes more fish and sushi, you should find yourself a good sushi bar where you will be self-serving yourself endless green tea and omega 3’s from all the fresh fish!

One of the best Sushi bars we came across in Tokyo is in the Siebu Mall in Shibuya district of Tokyo. It is always busy so allow yourself a decent time to be waiting to get a table. The name of the conveyor sushi bar is Katsu Midori Seibu Shibuya on floor 8F of the mall. The fish is so fresh here and not badly priced for being in a fancy mall. You can get anything from fresh salmon belly to golden flaked Uni (sea urchin). This is the best place to come as you can order right from a computer screen which is considered normal in Japan or you can wait for something tasty to come by on the conveyor. Either way this place is so busy the fish is always fresh and not on the line for long! We ate at about 10 diffrent sushi bars, and this was one of my favorites!

The next yummy place you should try while you’re in Tokyo is the Tsukiji Fish Market! Whether you want fresh fish right off the boat or the best Wagyu Beef you have ever had, this is a place you should spend your breakfast or lunch as it is only open early morning till noon. Here you can find amazing sushi bars with some of the freshest fish, warm sake from local distilleries, small bars for that early morning beer, wagyu beef, and even fresh strawberries and treats. I tried the strawberries (and the were very expensive) and they were to die for. They were so sweet they tasted like a desert! Another great treat to try in this area is the MOCHI! It is so good and not what you think it is like in America. ( IT'S BETTER) They also had lots of little things you could buy and sauces you can cook with that are local to Japan. If you want authentic food to try in a somewhat touristy area, this is the place to experience all the yummy tastes of Japan in one spot!
