Singapore has been on my bucket list for a while! Although still part of South East Asia, it is not as cheap as the other countries in that area. BUT, it is so worth it to pay a visit because this city is so cool and ecofriendly! We first arrived to our quaint air bnb a few train stops outside of the city. It was Chinese influenced and the owner was so kind to us. He had breakfast ready for all the guest every morning, and he would chat us up and help us figure out the best things to do and see! Our first night in the City we bought the tourist train/bus pass which means you can take most public transportation in the city unlimited. This was extremely helpful since we found ourselves using the transportation quite often because we wanted to see everything! I think one of my favorite places in the city was Gardens by the Bay and the water front area. Every night at 7:30 and 8:30, they have a huge light show in the Gardens by the Bay. It tends to always be a different theme, it was so awesome to experience!

Another great light show we didn’t even know about and we just happened to go outside at the perfect time was the water fountain light show. It is about 30 minutes long and a great show! You can find the show every evening out from of the Marina Sands hotel. You can watch this light show from many different areas around the bay. There is a lot of spectacular city views at night from different areas around the bay as well which makes the night a great time to explore! The best thing to do is go for an evening bike ride or stroll to experience them and get some epic photographs!

If you are eager like we were, you will be able to hit all the main hot spots in Singapore. Little India was colorful and full of yummy food. There is a lot to see and we spent awhile exploring the area and of course eating! Another great spot we spent many evenings and afternoons at was China town. The food options are over whelming but worth the extra calories to try many different dishes at a reasonable price! This area is good for shopping as well. Lots of cute hats and some clothing in different stalls and shops. The Malay district is home to a beautiful Mosk. The Masjid Mosk is lovely to explore. It is very beautiful, and it is awesome to see how much culture is still in the area despite all the tourism. If you are looking for more delicious food, the Malay district has a lot to offer. Cute little coffee shops, hip bars, hal-hal food, and lots of Indian food. That is one of the greatest things about Singapore is how diverse in culture it is. So many different cultures make up this rad city! You never know what language to speak because of the unique diversity of the city, no language is prominent so everyone can speak English well which is great after traveling to many countries where the English is hard to come by.

One of the best days we had exploring Singapore was when we rented bikes using the OFO apps on our phones. The bikes are scattered all over the city, you literally grab one and activate it, ride it to a destination, the leave it. It’s so simple and fun! We biked over 13 miles around the city. By riding the bikes around we were able to see places that we wouldn’t normally by taking the subway or bus. We rode our bikes to one of the famous gardens and explored the indoor beauties. One of the gardens was called “cloud forest”. It was so incredible, 7 levels of incredible plants and architecture, and not to mention a waterfall!! It was by far my favorite of the gardens. The flower garden was also incredible. They had a different garden for almost every country. You could get lost in the gardens (literally, we did)!

Singapore is a very green city. The streets are clean, the culture is extremely diverse, kind people, the food is diverse, and they care about the planet and future generations….what more could you dream about for a city!
