Ohhhhhhhh Santorini, Greece.... such a magical little island full of beauty, drastic landscape, turquoise seas, and a very complicated bus system. I mean If we are traveling all the way to Greece, we couldn't NOT visit the iconic island and miss out on the beautiful blue domed churches everyone raves about. We spent about a week in Santorini, Greece and it was incredible. The rugged landscaoe offers such a different island view. Many of the main towns like Oia, Fira, and Imerovigli lye on huge ridges and you have to take long curvy roads or many, many stairs to get to the coastline. It does not have your average beach coastline but more of a rocky, rugged coastline that is great for swimming, snorkeling, fishing, and cliff jumping! Although there are a few beaches along the coastline that are worth visiting like Kamari and Perissa.
A great spot and almost secret spot to avoid the mass amount of tourist during the day is this awesome pool club we found in Oia called Lioyerma Lounge Cafe Pool Bar. The entrance is free as long as you buy something from their cafe. This will include your lounge chairs, pool access, and the incredible views! We spent many hot afternoons here relaxing and taking in the views. Sunset is also very beautiful to watch from here and get a few cocktails!
To help cut back on cost we stayed in the outside of Oia about 20 mins by foot. We had ocean access and bus transportation form our apartment. They were almost half the price of other apartments an hotels in the main area of Oia. We were lucky enough to be able to take the bus or just walk 20 minute but it was worth it to save the extra money as Santorini is one of the most expensive islands in Greece and most touristy. (For good reason)
The sunsets were beautiful from our little apartment and we spent a few evenings drinking wine and snacking on delicious food from the market! Plus the owner was very kind and accommodating! Thanks Penny! The only downside to being farther outside of Oia, is the bus system. Ohhhhh the bus system..... It goes one way around the entire island. So even if you are close but still need to take the bus, prepare for a journey as you will have to go to Fira then back in route to get to the other-side near Oia. But if you don't mind, it is a cheap way to get around and see the island! Another great way to see the island is the beautiful hike from Oia to Fira or vise versa. I recommend doing the hike early in the morning as it take a few hours and is hot and hilly. The views are incredible and you get to walk through all the adorable white and blue villages and towns. You can hike one way and then take the bus back to your location or if you are feeling eager hike there and back! We are avid hikers and just hiked from Oia to Fira as it was a very hot hike even in the early morning.
Sunsets are a very BIG deal in Oia village. You must go a few hours before to get a good seat and view of the sunset. It gets very crowded and busy with tourist and even locals to view the sunset! But its a must!
Oia is a very adorable village and one of the main attraction on Santorini. Spending a few days roaming the small cobblestone streets can get you sun burnt and lost in a maze of blue and white. It is absolutely picture perfect and one of the only places I have traveled too that truly looks exactly as it does on Instagram! NO FILTERS NEEDED! Its that good!

Santorini is a must see if you are traveling all the way to Greece! There is many things to do, many places to see, and many pictures to be taken and memories to be had! Next up-----> NAXOS ISLAND, GREECE!
